Project Permission Templates

What are Permission Templates?

A Permission Template is a user defined set of Stakeholder Permissions to the features and tools within the Project on Demand application. These can be used in order simplify the Stakeholder configuration process where multiple Stakeholders require the same Permission configuration.

Permission Templates can be managed using Permission Template Management that is accessible by clicking the Permission Template Management button in the side menu of Project Maintenance or via the Open Permission Template Management button in Edit Stakeholder.

How should they be used?

Usage of Permission Templates within Project on Demand is as follows:

1 Identify and record a Permission Template required for multiple Stakeholders. Create a new Permission Template.
2 Establish Project access required by Stakeholders. Configure the Permissions.
3 Utilise template to aid setup of Permissions on Stakeholders. Within Edit Stakeholder, use the Load feature to overwrite Permissions on current Stakeholder with the stored Permission Template Permissions.

Permission Template Properties

Managing

Permission Template Management can be used to Create, Edit, Load, Import and Remove Permission Templates.

The management child window can be accessed by clicking the Permission Template Management button in the side menu of Project Maintenance or via the Open Permission Template Management button in Edit Stakeholder.

Permission Template displayed are sorted in ascending order by Title.

Additional properties can be displayed by using the row details feature of the DataGrid.

Creating a new Permission Template

Clicking on the New button will alter the displayed child window to include an area at the bottom so a new Permission Template can be recorded.

Once all properties are set the new Permission Template can be saved by clicking the Save button at the bottom of the child window. If any validation errors are encountered they will display at the bottom of the child window and must be rectified before the new Permission Template can be successfully saved.

Upon successful completion of creating a new Permission Template the child window will revert back to it's normal state, a success message will display at the bottom of the child window and the newly created Permission Template will be selected in the DataGrid.

If the Cancel button is clicked, the child window will revert back to it's normal state and nothing will be saved.

Editing a Permission Template

Selecting a Permission Template and clicking on the Edit button will alter the displayed child window to include an area at the bottom so the Permission Template can be edited. Alternatively the row can be double-clicked to perform the same action.

Once all necessary changes have been made the Permission Template can be saved by clicking the Save button at the bottom of the child window. If any validation errors are encountered they will display at the bottom of the child window and must be rectified before the Permission Template can be successfully saved.

Upon successful completion of the editing process the child window will revert back to it's normal state and a success message will display at the bottom of the child window.

If the Cancel button is clicked, the child window will revert back to it's normal state and any changes will be cancelled.

Loading a Permission Template

A Load button will appear at the bottom of Permission Template Management if the child window is opened whilst in Edit Stakeholder.

Selecting a Permission Template and clicking on the Load button will overwrite the current Stakeholders Permissions with the ones stored on the selected Permission Template.

Upon successful completion the child window close and a success message will display at the bottom of the application.

Removing a Permission Template

Selecting the Permission Template to remove and clicking on the Remove button will display a removal confirmation window. If Cancel is clicked the confirmation window will close and the Permission Template will not be removed. If Yes is clicked the selected Permission Template will be removed and a successful removal message will be displayed at the bottom of the child window.

Importing Permission Templates

Clicking the Import button will flip the child window to display Import Permission Templates.

In order to view and import Permission Templates from another Project, a Project must be selected from the "Import from Project" drop-down at the top. The drop-down is populated with any Projects that have Permission Templates defined.

Permission Templates that have been checked in the Import column of the DataGrid will be Imported once the Import button is clicked. The Check All feature can be used to check all displayed Permission Templates.

Upon successful import the child window will flip back around to display Permission Template Management, a success message will be displayed at the bottom of the child window and the last of the newly imported Permission Templates will be selected.
