Project Mandate

What is the Project Mandate?

The Project Mandate is a proposal document for the Project which outlines the idea for the Project.

The Project Mandate is used within the demand management process in order to determine which Projects to progress.

Note: A Project with a Status of "Not Started" will be set to "In Progress" once Edit Mode is accessed on the Project Mandate.

Document Contents

The "Project Details" tab has the following properties:

Name Description Possible Values
ID - Title The unique Project identifier and the title of the Project. These properties are set on the Project and cannot be modified within the Project Mandate.
Description The Project description. These properties are set on the Project and cannot be modified within the Project Mandate.
Background Describes where the idea for the Project originated. Rich Text.
Objectives Describes what the Project is to achieve. Rich Text.
Justification Describes the justification for the Project in terms of cost versus benefit. Rich Text.
Sponsor(s) The Project Sponsor is a senior management position whose role is to own the Project and to ensure that the benefits are fully realised.

Any Users with Project access.

Note: A Stakeholder record with the Project Sponsor property set will be created for any User selected that doesn't already have one. Existing Stakeholders can also be set as Sponsors in Stakeholder Management.

The "Document Purpose" tab has the following properties:

Name Description Possible Values
Document Purpose Provides context for the reader by describing the purpose of the Project Mandate and what it is used for. Rich Text.
Document Scope Defines what is included in and excluded from the Project Mandate document. Rich Text.

The "Scope" tab has the following properties:

Project Scope Describes a summary of the Project’s scope. Rich Text.
Included Scope Items

Describes in detail the Project’s included scope items.

List of Scope Items.

Scope Items displayed are sorted in ascending order by Order Index and paged to 10 items per page.

Excluded Scope Items

Describes in detail the Project’s excluded scope items.

List of Scope Items.

Scope Items displayed are sorted in ascending order by Order Index and paged to 10 items per page.

The "Costs" tab has the following properties:

Project Costs Describes a summary of the Project’s costs. Rich Text.
Project Teams Costs Estimated costs associated with the internal Project team. . Number. (0 - 1000000000.00)
Capital Expenditure Costs Estimated costs associated with capital expenditure. Number. (0 - 1000000000.00)
External Consultancy Costs Estimated costs associated with external consultancy. Number. (0 - 1000000000.00)
General Expense Costs Estimated costs associated with general expenses. Number. (0 - 1000000000.00)
Total Costs Total of above 4 costs. Number - Generated by the application.

The "Timescale"' tab has the following properties:

Start Up Estimated number of weeks to complete the Start Up Phase of the Project. Number. (0 - 1000000000.00)
Initiation Estimated number of weeks to complete the Initiation Phase of the Project. Number. (0 - 1000000000.00)
Planning Estimated number of weeks to complete the Planning Phase of the Project. Number. (0 - 1000000000.00)
Design Estimated number of weeks to complete the Design Phase of the Project. Number. (0 - 1000000000.00)
Execution Estimated number of weeks to complete the Execution Phase of the Project. Number. (0 - 1000000000.00)
Closure Estimated number of weeks to complete the Closure Phase of the Project. Number. (0 - 1000000000.00)
Total Timescale Total of above estimates. Number - Generated by the application.

The "Risks" tab has the following properties:

Name Description Possible Values
Associated Risks

Describes the Risks that are associated with the Project.

List of Risks.

Risks displayed are sorted in ascending order by ID and paged to 25 items per page.

Additional properties can be displayed by using the row details feature of the DataGrid.

Note: Risks identified outside of the Project Mandate will not be displayed.

The "Issues" tab has the following properties:

Name Description Possible Values
Associated Issues

Describes the Issues that are associated with the Project.

List of Issues.

Issues displayed are sorted in ascending order by ID and paged to 25 items per page.

Additional properties can be displayed by using the row details feature of the DataGrid.

Note: Issues identified outside of the Project Mandate will not be displayed.

The "Dependencies" tab has the following properties:

Associated Dependencies

Describes the Dependencies that are associated with the Project.

List of Dependencies.

Dependencies displayed are sorted in ascending order by ID and paged to 25 items per page.

Additional properties can be displayed by using the row details feature of the DataGrid.

Note: Dependencies identified outside of the Project Mandate will not be displayed.

The "Constraints" tab has the following properties:

Describes the Constraints that are associated with the Project.

List of Constraints.

Constraints displayed are sorted in ascending order by ID and paged to 25 items per page.

Additional properties can be displayed by using the row details feature of the DataGrid.

Note: Constraints identified outside of the Project Mandate will not be displayed.

The "Assumptions" tab has the following properties:

Describes the Assumptions that have been made within the Project Mandate.

List of Assumptions.

Assumptions displayed are sorted in ascending order by ID and paged to 25 items per page.
