About Dashboard

What is the Dashboard?

Dashboards are a type of user interface that provide an overview/report of progress towards a given objective, often integrating information from multiple components/sources. Project on Demand provides a Dashboard that aims to track a Project's progression as well as offering the ability to manage any critical elements.

The Dashboard is the central hub of the application that provides access to the current Project’s Phase Progression, features to perform any outstanding Actions assigned to the current User and the ability to monitor and control any other significant items.

Dashboard Format

The left side of the Dashboard contains the Phase Progression and Pending Actions components, the right side of the Dashboard contains several containers featuring a selection of other items as detailed below.

All components except Pending Actions are displayed within a container containing an expander, meaning the containers can be collapsed to allow space to display others. Each container also features a Refresh button that can be clicked to refresh the displayed items.

The components displayed will differ depending on the current Users Account Type and whether they have the "Limited" flag on their Stakeholder record, details below.

Phase Progression

The Phase Progression component of the Dashboard will display Goals associated with the Project's current Phase. The completion of provided Goals can be easily determined using the Status icons displayed to the left of the Goal descriptions.

Users with the correct Permissions may interact with Goals to access features related to the completion of that Goal, see Phase Progression for details.

At the end of each set of Phase Goals there is a Control Point, this may be used by Administrator Users to progress the Project into the next Phase.

Note: Phase Progression is not available for Users with a Limited View on their Stakeholder record.

Pending Actions

The Pending Actions component of the Dashboard will display any Actions assigned to the current User that have a Status of Open. This list includes Actions that have been manually created by a User and "Internal" Actions generated by the application.

Actions displayed within Pending Actions are sorted in ascending order by ID and paged to 5 items per page.

Additional properties can be displayed by using the row details feature of the DataGrid.

Actions that have been manually created by a User:

  • Selecting a Action and clicking on the Edit button will display a child window so the Action can be edited. Alternatively the row can be double-clicked to perform the same action.
  • If the Owner property is assigned to another User or the Status is changed to Closed or Completed the Action will be removed from Pending Actions DataGrid.

Actions generated by the application:

Other Items

The right side of the Dashboard contains several containers featuring a selection of items dependent on the current User's Account Type, they include: Risks, Issues, Assumptions, Actions, Decisions, Constraints and Dependencies.

Additional properties can be displayed by using the row details feature of the DataGrid.

Some of the containers feature buttons located on the far right hand side of the expander's blue "header". Clicking these buttons will "flip" the container to display a different list of items on the other side. Pairs of items in the following lists denotes they are one "side" to the same container with the "flip" feature.
